Girl, Look What You’ve Done to Me

If we’ve been real-life friends, then you know my husband and I and our love for music. You may or may not know that he will oft find something that piques his interest, and he will pour his whole self into this band or musician. We laugh about it, but I love it about him. It’s part of who he is, and he’s knowledgeable on many, many subjects regarding rock n’ roll, pop music, etc. Man of my dreams? Yes.

Anyhow, we’ve always been fans of Don Kirshner groups, and the Monkees are a big favorite. We went through a big Monkees phase not too long ago (they rotate in and out often), and even got the children involved. The Monkees are poppy, infectious goodness, and Davy Jones residing from Manchester is the icing on the cake.

A family favorite is Daydream Believer (yes, Neil Diamond strikes again), and I’m a Believer. I guess the Monkees REALLY wanted you to believe something.

We are both broken-hearted to hear of Davy Jones’ passing. Since nothing embodies our relationship like the melding of 2 of our favorite things, Davy & the Bradys, I’ll leave you with this:

About Laura

"We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us something is valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit." -e.e. cummings
